House heating habits

    Hello everyone,
    Opening this thread to get some statistics on usual house temperature settings and heating habits in cold season.

    If you wish to share your heating stats or have other comments about
    bellow fell free to post.

    Bellow are some questions with my answers:


    1. Heating type and controls:
    - gas boiler with 8 radiators across 3 heating zones + 1 hot water zone, wireless thermostats(with timers) on each zone


    2. House type and BER rating:
    - 3 bed house(end of terrace), C3 ratings with some upgrades(not included in BER)
    all windows have been changes to triple glazed
    new efficient front/back door.
    30 cm attic insulation(above attic room), attic room floor(ceiling bedroom) insulated with rockwool(10cm)
    4kw wood burning stove in living room.


    3. House temperature settings:
    - Zone 1 (ground floor), thermostat located in the kitchen
    Between 6AM - 10:30PM thermostat set to 20C
    Between 10:30PM - 6AM thermostat set to 17C
    wood burning stove(4kw) in living room lit 3-4 days a week in the evening


    - Zone 2(bedrooms), thermostat located in the master bedroom(North facing)
    Between 7:30AM - 8:30PM thermostat set to 20C
    Between 8:30PM - 7:30AM thermostat set to 21C

    - Zone 3(attic room, used for play area) thermostat located in attic room
    Heating on demand only, with a temperature set of 21C when on (usually 2-3 hours daily)

    - Hot Water Zone
    on a timer 9AM-9:30AM and 4:30PM-5:30PM
    Will provide enough hot water through the day for 4 people(3 adults +1 child) with overrides when we have guests

    Notes: Above thermostats settings are overridden from time to time(usually to higher values)
    Heating is on all the time maintaining above temp.


    4. Average heating costs(optional):
    Gas bills costs for last year heating season(including cooking):
    oct-nov 120 euro
    dec-jan 175 euro
    feb-mar 120 euro
    apr-may 80 euro (16th May heating switched off)
