Drug mules

Do you know any? I read an article that an American school is proposing to include a former drug mule who spent time in prison as part of their anti-drug,DARE program.

Would probably be more effective than making up all the lies about weed addicting you.

Oh yes, we all have a wide circle of friends that includes drug mules.

List a couple, or three, of all these lies.

Yes, and they aren't currently looking for anyone - sorry.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Having a former drug mule come to the school to talk to kids won't turn kids away from drugs. The ones who want to dabble will still do it. Hopefully they won't be stupid enough to do it. The same effect could be achieved by getting them to watch "Banged up Abroad".

I don't know any personally but the Peru two are well known. Their story will probably put young ones off for awhile but newer generations will grow up not knowing about them and repeat the same mistakes sooner or later. Young people do stupid things. They just want to party and have fun and think bringing something back from holiday is no big deal. Until they get caught. The Peru two are lucky they got caught in Peru and not in some parts of Asia.

Or better yet, why not teach them moderation?

I’ve two friends that can corroborate that.

    He’s doing ok now, though.

You're just not getting it are you?

You ask questions, receive responses but, if you engage in the thread at all, it's to bounce back to your preconceived notions while ignoring the points made.

But moderation in regards to what? Smoking a bit of weed as a teen isn't going to ruin your life but smoking heroin probably will. Pills and cocaine are another story. Lots of people dabble in those and grow out of the party scene but plenty more develop full on addictions and lose years/decades.

The reason they don't legalise drugs and teach moderation is because of alcohol. Alcohol has been part of society for hundreds of years which is why it's legal. They tried prohibition in the US and it backfired big time. Look at all the problems binge drinking causes at the weekends - fights which lead to stresses on emergency services such as the Gards and A&E. Not to mention all the problems associated with chronic alcoholics. Alcoholics don't only damage themselves but they also ruin the lives of those closest to them. Then there's drinking and driving. That's getting better but plenty of people still think they can have a few and drive home grand.

Alcohol causes huge amounts of problems but it's here to stay as it is the lesser evil. If you were to legalise every drug and "normalise" it, you would see every social problem caused by alcohol, multiplied by every drug you legalise (with weed maybe being the only exception). Because most drugs are illegal, people who do them, tend to do them recreationally and don't go bragging about it in work. Plenty of people will say "I'm hungover" and that's accepted as normal but very few, if any would announce to their colleagues they had a great weekend but are suffering mid week comedown withdrawals.

Keeping drugs illegal doesn't solve the problem but it does limit it. We see in Ireland how alcohol is associated with nearly every social occasion. Just had a baby? Lets wet the baby's head. Child is having a communion/confirmation? Let's have a big party where the adults can get drunk. Getting married? No such thing as a dry wedding! Teenagers getting drunk in a field? Just a part of growing up.

Now imagine that all these social occasions also include meth, pills, cocaine, heroine, speed etc. It wouldn't be long before everything fell apart.

For the past few years, I've been visiting Peter Allan, an Australian caught trying to mule almost 500g of heroin out of Bangkok to Australia. He was snitched on and spent many years in Bangkwang Central Prison.

He has since been extradited to Australia and will serve a few years there before being released. A relief for him, considering the I usual sentence was death.

It was a surreal experience for me, and someone to talk to for him. We still keep in touch as I can send him letters now, whereas I had to visit in person in Bangkok.

PS. I didn't know him until I rocked up to the prison in 2011. We became friends (by shouting across a fenced visiting area competing with 40 inmates and 40 visitors) and I kept visiting him every time I was in Bangkok. With the latest military rule a few years back, they stopped allowing random visits (limited to family / missionary only) so I had to go to the Aus embassy, pretend I was a missionary and they eventually stamped a letter allowing me visitation rights (not easy!)

Your never going to get a mule into a nightclub or bar I find doormen strict on that, so it's best to put the drugs in your pocket.

That's nothing OP. I heard they are offering Michaella McCollum a 5 year contract for a million dollars a year and they are going to use her book in the school curriculum so she sells like 10 million copies a year and they are building a musuem dedicated to her and they are going to accuse Piers Morgan of war crimes and...and..put her face on the dollar bill and..and..and...everything.

Didn't crime drop by 50% when the headships were open and every Joe soap was going around smoking meow meow (mandatory Joe Duffy sound board reference) and snorting bath salts.
