There's no point connecting a TV socket to a HDMI input, without a tuner.

Is the TV socket fed from an aerial?

Anyway I want to connect a TV socket to a spare HDMI connection on my monitor.

I guess you mean a wall socket connected to an aerial ....... this needs a tuner (Set Top Box) which will have an aerial input and a HDMI output.

The aerial input takes a coax cable from wall socket and will need a HDMI cable to connect its output to the HDMI input of the monitor.

    Maybe something like this? €40

Have you used one of that type? Wonder what your experience was with one?

I had one some years ago (probably still in a box somewhere) and was never happy with it physically.

I found it awkward to position and generally not as 'nice'/acceptable as a standard shaped STB.

My brother uses one on an old MPEG-2 bathroom TV, so for him it's hidden in a cavity behind the TV, he hasn't mentioned any issues with it.

    Thanks.

Yes, best to keep it hidden and unmovable :D

Thanks all. I'm not sure what kinda connection it is. I have a Sky dish but then we have the Saorview as well, all through the same socket similar to this.

    That's an unscreened single cable co-ax wallplate/faceplate.

How many cables into the wallplate at the rear, also how many outlets on the face?
