Those magic moments?

I had one of these some days ago, a quite regular occurrence.

Doing a bit of work when I had a moment of realisation, a moment of overwhelming self-satisfaction. It happens now and then at the most inexplicable times, an overpowering sense of self-worth that giddies the senses, like a rush of dopamine combined with adrenaline that takes the breath away, as if punched by an angel.

For those of a similar disposition, I find that a cup of Bewleys gold blend in conjunction with a 5 minute "comedown" period aids most magnificently.

Does anyone else suffer from such vivid, almost tangible bouts of self-worth? Does anyone else have those magic moments of singular bliss?

Back in Germany, I used to sing both in a choir and as a soloist in local musical productions. I ended up doing three musicals, with Jesus Christ Superstar being the biggest. Every now and then, there'd be one of these moments, when the orchestra, the other actors, the on-stage choir and in some cases even the audience all seemed to just "get it". You'd get this "energy" that just seemed to bind everything together, and you'd be able to give it that little bit extra, hit your notes that little bit more precise, or put that much bit more power into your performance. These moments were few and far between, and they never lasted more than a few minutes, but when they happened, it was spectacular.

Probably too serious an answer for this thread, but what the h*ll...

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

The only thing better is effortlessly overpowering some jealous git before parading them around a street in an inescapable arm lock. The shades of red a human face can turn are most amusing :)

    That's awesome.
I get goosebumps when I hear someone like Colm Wilkinson sing.

Thought of it the minute I read the thread title.

Could sing it aged 3 as my uncle was a huge music buff and The Drifters were on the turntable permanently.

    Fantastic song and memories, thanks.

I'm probably bringing the mood down but no, I have never, ever felt like this.

I have felt this or at least similar I think.

I would be doing something or nothing at all and get an overwhelming sense of happiness. It would just hit and be gone as quick as it arrived.
If I could only bottle it :)

I suppose for me it would be gig highlights at festivals, Portishead at Electric Picnic 2014 was a magical moment, well two hours of it, absolute bliss followed by another two hours of Chic closing out the main stage on Saturday night. I have many of those through the years. Also when you procure a rare gift for someone at Xmas that they've always wanted, that can be a special magical moment.

Sounds like you entered a Flow-State maybe more commonly called being 'In-the-Zone'.

Random enough occurrence although for me the 'Smart-Drug' Modafinil initiates it more often than not once I start doing/concentrating on something.

As your man said in that film. All those magic moments will be lost forever, like a fart in the wind.

    :(

Was just saying on another thread this morning that last night I did a "magic" show in front of a semi large audience at my mates work Christmas party. I basically did a copy of this act by Derren Brown.

I have rarely been in front of large crowds - but there was a moment in the middle of it when I had done the first few "hits" perfectly that they were all laughing at the right spots - oooing and ahhhing and gasping at the right moments - that a complete sense of safety and power came over me and I just felt "right".

I can see how preachers - supposed mind readers - and charlatan mediums - get addicted to the feeling.
