Monitor versus 42" HD TV.

Son hoping to use my laptop to play some games, and I was thinking about buying a cheapish monitor to make it easier to view.

    Perhaps a 24 - 27" one.

Then I got to thinking, I have a 42" TV lying doing nothing. Would this be ok to use, or would it not be sharp enough graphics wise?

It would be HDMI-HDMI in both cases.

Why not try it first? ...... he might well be happy with it.

Fine for games, no different to a games console.

Obviously that is assuming you have a gaming laptop, as integrated graphics would not really be up to much.
