    Hi there,

    I'm a mature student in 2nd year. I was 23 when I entered college im now 25.

I've recently become I'll and have been out of my part time job for two months. I work in retail and have been employed there for 4 years. I've recently been sent a letter from my employer that they will have to terminate my employment as I am unfit to work and haven't been holding my contract

I was wondering if I am entitled to any social welfare payments as I'm currently not working and do not live at home. I was relying on my job to live.

    Thanks for any input!

Yes you can apply for illness benefit if you are too ill to work
    https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/disability_and_illness/disability_benefit.html

The rates in this document are related to your weekly wage from 2017 if you apply before the end of this year.

Also if you have mygovid account, you can see ,

    a. Have you sent in Certs from your Doctors to the Social Welfare,
b, After 6 days out sick you may be entitled to a Illness payment.
    c. Check the welfare portal on mygovid for more info.

This jumped out at me OP. have you been working there continuously for two years (Albeit Part time)? Can you perhaps explain what they said here. Doesn't sound right.
