2007 BMW - how much should I advertise for?

    Hi all.

    I have a 2007 318D BMW.

    It has the following issues:

    1. The blower for the heater stopped working (the electrics to control the heating all still work, the clicks to change settings still work, just no air blowing at all).

    2. The under-tray is a bit loose and if you are going over ramps or on the motorway you can hear it scraping.

Otherwise the car seems fine for the most part. It's NCT'd till the end of March and taxed till the end of January.

I was going to get it fixed but I needed it done quickly and could not get anyone to do it quickly. So I just bought another car to do me.

Anyway. I was going to sell it as is i.e. highlight in the advertisement the above issues that are known to me and sell it as seen.

How much should I advertise it for?

    Thanks.

You’d be lucky to get €750. Maybe put on for €900 and accept €750

I'd be delighted to get €700 to be honest!

In summer 18 I got 2000 for a 2006 e60 523i sport but it was in good condition.
You're somewhere between 500 and 1000 for that car now I'd say. Best of luck with sale

    Cable tie up the undertray

That's a simple fix. Do as Colm says. I'd be far more worried of people using the heating issue to run down the price.

Did you check the fan fuse?

I’ve no idea how to do that. I must check google. Or ask someone I know to give me a hand.

No. I didn’t. Apologies, how do I do that, and is a new fuse costly?

I started the car earlier to keep it running incase I do not sell it quickly. It started on the button and everything on it is running well apart from the two issues I said above. I got 4 new tyres a few months ago, new turbo, service and a new starting motor too over the last few months. I don’t have receipts though as the dealer I originally bought it off got his mechanics to do all the above for a decent price.

I am going to advertise it this weekend anyway.

The blower problem could be the final stage resister or hedgehog resister as it has been nicknamed, a very common problem on BMWs of that vintage.

    More info here:
    https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=500653

Not an expensive or complicated fix if that's the issue.

SIet iut the tray, next thing it will rip off. Yeah as above, I’ve had to replace hedgehog resistor. Know a lad who does work for peanuts, if you’re in south side Dublin and would prefer it done yourself before sake rather than be offered e500 for a e50,000 new car

OP a lot will depend on spec and colour.
If its msport in a nice colour it'll still be worth a few pound. However if its a poorly spec'd se or es in a colour that most would avoid such as green or brown or beige then it's not gonna be worth much.

The main issue is e90's are at a price point now that 320d's aren't much dearer than 318d's so most just go for the more powerful 320d's in msport spec.

    UPDATE:

Advertised it for €900 around 4pm.

Sold the car for €600 a few minutes ago.

Would have liked €700 or a bit more but I wasn’t bothered getting into negotiations etc. I’m just glad I got rid of it quickly.

Yeah just good to be rid sometimes

yeah sometimes the first offer/buyer is the best as otherwise you hold on thinking you get more and get even less

So. I saw the BMW that I sold the subject of this thread advertised for €1,100 more than I sold it for.

No issue with that, the person could have spent time fixing it up, cleaning it, and now wants to make a few bob on it.

However, they put the miles as much lower than they were upon selling.

Also, I only sent the tax book on the 23rd (sold on the 21st). I’ve pictures of the tax book etc. with the date of sale so I presume there won’t be any issues for me but how can they try sell it yet without the tax book? I’m presuming they don’t have it yet.

I wouldn’t worry about it its nothing to do with you. Their plan is probably just to agree on a price with new buyer and do the deal once logbook arrives. I’ve done that before. Sure they probably won’t have someone look at it for a few days anyway and by then they’d have the logbook.

Would really annoy me tho if someone buying a car from me clocked it and made money. You should report the add to Donedeal only takes a second and they remove it if its been clocked

To be fair you sold that car on the cheap side (unless the mileage was absolutely catastrophic ie. 200,000+ miles).

I am selling a 06 3 door Toyota Corolla with 150k km's and its dog rough, no service history either or anything like that. But I am still holding out for a grand at least.

    Yeah report it to donedeal

Well, I wouldn't buy a car without seeing the log book. And an owner who has had it for only about 3 or 4 days would be a massive red flag. Also I'd probably insist on an ECU mileage reading which is far more difficult to tamper with than the Odometer.

Post a link to the ad too, there's been a few success stories with clockers getting very rattled by people contacting them 'I know what you did'

You'll be waiting. Unfortunately in this country old cars are worth feck all when selling, it's good for the few buyers though.

Yep not a hope of a grand for a rough 06 3dr corolla. Not to a sane person anyway

How many miles have they knocked off the clock?
Be interesting if someone claimed to be interested and viewed the car to see exactly what's on the clock.

I don't want to divert from the original OP's discussion points but sellers are certainly asking well over €1000 for 06 Corolla's (Albeit 4/5 doors versions)
