Brainless Zombies spending hours a day on facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, Youtube, online gaming , even boards been brainwashed, Facebook been the absolute worst of these selling your browsing habits.

Everyone posting their status awaiting likes to be flatten their ego's.

I wish the internet was never invented. Back in my day we were out kicking football and cycling our bikes or getting up to mischief.

I really really despise the Internet. I hope some hacker can take the whole thing down some day.

    FOR GOOD!

No, it’s been the best invention ever.
If you think it’s only used for social media then the brainless apple has fallen closer to home.

The internet is what you make of it. If you spend all of your time imbibing the poison that is social media then that's your problem. Use it to learn things, enjoy phenomenal entertainment or make money instead of watching ads on the likes of Facebook and making bank for giant tax dodging corporations. Your call.

No, the internet is fantastic. I have felt so supported since my cancer diagnosis by connecting with people in my position around the world. Cancer patients as young as me are few and far between, especially in a low population country like ours and healthy people don’t want to talk about it. It’s helped me fight isolation. I can’t imagine how lonely people felt in my position years ago.

YouTube alone justifies the invention of the Internet. Millions of hours of every kind of video, covering every possible issue, topic and hobby and costs you nothing. It's incredible actually.

correct - but they were either slaves or not beforehand. The Internet just held up a gigantic mirror to humanity is all.

The worst invention is nuclear weapon,s ,they cost billions ,
at this point no country is going to use them,
most countrys have trade agreements .We have a global economy .
they are a total waste of money.
They have to be maintained, gaurded .my theory is facebook is mostly used by people at work,
avoiding work .since facebook is used by business it cannot be blocked .
The internet is used by minoritys, charitys, people to stay in touch with relatives.See youtube
learn about any subject, how to fix this, watch old documentarys etc
    its a great academic resource.
people play online games with friends and relatives .
Before the internet , people would watch tv .Most people do not go home and read novels or write poetry.
People played pc or console games without using the web.
the web is like tv, theres awful stuff on it ,and theres
    opera,s and nature documentarys .
Many great comedians and actors got their start making short videos,
on youtube before they got a tv deal.
You make music, put it up on soundcloud ,youtube,
no need to do gigs in small pubs.
If you are good you,ll get a record deal or get rich maybe .
Theres 1000,s of people who are employed just putting up video,s on twitch, youtube, instagram.
Podcasts are like the new version of radio, listen when you want .
they can only exist because of the web.

Not to over state the obvious but, without the Internet, you wouldn't have been able to post here to vent your frustrations over said Internet.

Given that the op apparently works in IT, I wouldn't take the thread to seriously. Threads like the op come up on here every now and again, the last one that I remember was closed as it was a shill who opened it, or at least that's how the mod closing it described that particular op.

The internet is awesome. It's what you make it. Social media is great too - again what you make it (well unless you're really young; not ideal for the young uns). I don't follow any of those folk that wind people up on Instagram, so I don't see them. Problem solved.

The internet has transformed how we work in the past 25 years. Work and communication is so much faster now, information can be shared so easily and efficiently. Pre email just think how slow and cumbersome it was to send a report or file. Productivity by any measure must be much higher now in the work place. Also transformed how we work in theta created a whole new array of careers and roles we would never have imagined only 20 years ago.
