I'm debating trading in an Audi A6 (2016) and wonder what the likely trade in value is for this car with 140,000km, full Audi service history, just passed NCT. Is there any way of knowing in advance what I could expect to be offered?

Trade in values are distorted figures depending on the value of the car you are trading in against and how much discount it has available on it. You need to focus on the cost to change price, it's the only figure that matters.

I'd say knock 30-35% off a comparable car for sale at a main dealer and that's a good guideline.

I'm guessing in around 17-20k. What are you trading in against?
I got offered 25k for a 141 A6 but mileage is less than half of yours. This was against a brand new A6 in an Audi main dealer, I couldn't believe I was offered that much but it was a 60k car and cost to change was 35k.

In a second hand dealership a few weeks later I was offered 13k for same car against a 181 530e with 18000kms on it, so almost a new car, and they wanted my car plus 24k to change.

To be honest the deal where I was offered 13k for my own was the more tempting one, the Audi dealership must have had a lot of leeway to offer me 25k for my own.

Don't worry too much about the valuation for yours but rather the cost to change, throw those figures out to us if you have any.
