Freesat box with recording?

I currently use a Sagem box to get freesat (can't afford Sky), but it doesn't have recording capabilities, I have a seperate DVD/HD recorder which I use to record things, but this is giving some problems. I was thinking of getting a second hand Sky decoder that has recording capabilities to get the freesat and record what I want. I have been told that you can record 2 programs while watching a third. Does anyone have advice or knowledge of doing this?

I have a Humax Foxsat HDR that I bought years ago & it still works perfectly.

Do you need 'Freesat' branded devices or would Free to Air devices suit your needs?
Would you want terrestrial TV (Saorview) included?

I am unsure what you refer to by "Sky decoder" ...... but if you mean a second hand Sky box then you cannot use the record function without a Sky subscription, even on Free to Air channels.

So if you want FTA and Saorview then look for a Combi box, and some have built in HDD.

I use a Humax Hdr1100s, it can record 2 programs at once, while you watch a recording. On screen simular to the Sagem but with WiFi, so Netflix, YouTube are possible. The remote can be programmed to operate many TV brands, so with a Saorview TV one remote can do most functions on both. I have the 500gb and it is more than enough for us, they cost €230 or there abouts

Got both the Foxsat and the 1100.

Former for maybe 15yrs, latter about 6.

No issues with either. Great machines.

I have the 1100s. I have a couple of issues with it. If you key in (say) 106, the display on the TV screen says 10, but the box does indeed tune to channel 106, a minor irritation I will admit. The second issue is more serious for those of us who rely on subtitles, because, on many channels, the subtitles run ahead of the dialogue, especially if you jump forwards or backwards, for example to skip adverts.
