Need suggestions on what car I should go for

I currently drive a 1.4 2004 VW Golf, I'm looking to change it.

I've been driving for over 1 year as a named driver, I'm hoping to go in my own name when time comes (next July/August).

I drive a lot, 600+km a week.
I need something reasonable on fuel.
Small(ish) engine - I don't know how big, I'm just guessing 2 Litre is a no go.
Reasonable to insure.

I've been told Skoda Octavia by a few friends.

I honestly haven't got a clue what I want/need.
Any suggestions?

Edit - Forgot budget - Not entirely sure - Less than €10,000

600k commute? Coming from a miserable 1.4 golf?

2011/12 5 series BMW with the belt done. Economy, luxury, would melt that 600k commute away in absolute luxury.

I wouldn’t be going near that particular example, the seller is hiding the reg for a reason no doubt.

Good point, though if I went to view this car I'd be checking it with Cartell before going any further with the seller...

For the OP though, a nice 1.6 Diesel Octavia is a great choice...
