Notice period when still on probation

    Hi All,

I am in my current job about 2 months but have just been offered a job with a different company (and thank God too because my current role is far different than the role advertised)

My notice period in 1 month when I'm out of probation but not sure about when I'm in the probation period.

Whats the general consensus on notice period when still in probation, I believe legally an employer can send you packing with little to no notice when on probation.

I would like to finish up before Christmas in this role and hopefully on good terms

Do you have a contract? If so, what does it say about notice on probation?

They can let you go without notice during probation. I've always taken that as you can leave when you want without notice during probation. That's what I've done in the past anyway.

    Talk direct to your boss.
If they still see you as someone who they are putting more in to than they are getting out of, they might be happy for you to go immediately.
tell them that you have decided to take on another role and that you'd like your final day to be the 20th of December (for example).

Ask is that ok, if they don't bring up the notice period, I wouldn't.

Just walk, the same as they can instantly make you walk when on probation.
