Hi guys posting on behalf of a friend. His car a corolla 1.4d4d just under 200k has been giving him a bit of trouble. Loosing power etc. He brought it too a turbo specialist who diagnosed a worn turbo. Long story short and 750e later the cars behaving exactly the same. The "specialist" now is saying his cat is faulty injectors are leaking and egr is gone. My question is if he knew all this and diagnosed a turbo problem does my mate have any comeback? The "specialist" doesnt want to know. Im sorry if im in the wrong forum im very interested to hear what ye reckon. Thanks

The "specialist" forgot to add worn engine and gearbox in the list of items to change in random.

First of all its probably the SCV valves that are causing the problem, its common problem on all D4D engines, and if this "specialist" had all the right equipment he should be able to check the turbo and pressure check the injectors before committing to any fault diagnosis and starting on the repair work.

Failing SCV usually gives symptoms of hard starts on cold mornings. Id give the EGR and intake a good clean first to see if it improves. It easy enough do if ur anyway handy. Very messy job though but would only cost the price of a good cleaning product. I find kerosene works best.
