Getting rid of stock

We have a farm and due to a multitude of reasons we need to get rid of all the cattle. 26 all in.
Based in the northwest Leinster region, would anyone know someone who would come and take the animals on a given day. Preferably at night. Some are in_calf cows and some calfs are still suckling if this makes any difference.

Are you sure this is all legit... sounds suspicious,” preferably at night”.... ?

'Preferably at night'. Jeez, would they need balaclavas and fake numberplates?

Does the owner know about this?

Ah lads. I knew this would happen. It is actually a border county, but I thought it sounded too dodgy so went with Leinster.
The reason for the night time loading would be because a certain individual would not be there. This person has been making our lives hell since we took over the farm, and goes out of their way to impede us in anything we try do to improve the farm or run it our way.
Without them looking a the cattle being loaded it would go a lot smoother.
Anyway all is legit and any help or recommendations very welcome.

Are you going to keep them somewhere else? Either way. Talk to the local cattle lorry men at the mart and see what they say

No. We would like to just sell them and be done with them. Would be hoping a large farmer would have space for them and could just buy them and take them.

Sounds a bit extreme selling everything because of a man making your life hell.
What's your plan after all the stock are sold?

    It's the guards you need.

To sell just bring them to the mart, sell the cows with their calves if they aren't old enough to wean, They have to be tagged, registered and TB tested

Regain our mental health, and take It from there. It's a long old story and not one which I'm Goin to get into now.
    Priority is to get rid.

Mart is the best option, load them at night if you have to, contact a local mart and try get them into the lairage the evening before even. At least you’ll get market value.

Sounds like you are being intimidated by this individual. You need to refocus and not let your life be determined by others. "Poor is the man who depends on the permission of another". Wish you all the best and hope these words are of help.

Find a contact for a dealer. Get him to load the evening before and have him deal with the mart. He will know the mart better so will be able to get them in overnight. Offer him a percentage I of the sale and he will bend over backwards to help. 10% should entice him.

Sound advice for the op given the circumstances.

10% is crazy money, €10-15 per animal would be plenty.

I know 10% is crazy money on a normal day but under the circumstances it might be the best option.

    ^^^^

That's the best advice you're going to get, Ak84.

Once you have the permission of the owner of the herd, make sure the animals are tested and tagged and any young stock have their BVD tests back and clear. Marts would have dealt with similar stories before.

We don't need to know the background but once the registered owned has given you permission to sell, the mart would be your best option.

Plenty lads might take them but you’ll have to take a hit on price to move them on in the type of situation you describe.

You might be better off asking someone in the locality rather than asking on here

And tell him not to pull the saddle too tight, best advice is get on to the mart manager/ owner to sort out for you and will glad of the business and no comeback and above board.

    Out of interest -
    1) is the name printed on cattle's cards the same as your partner.
    2) is your partner the legal owner of the cattle or the "herd keeper" as per DAFM?
    3) are there any other individuals involved who could claim ownership of the cattle?
