NAC request from vodafone denied

    Hi all!

    So, this is a mess:

I've been a Pay-as-you-go customer with Vodafone since 2013. In April or May this year, I bought a Huawei P20 Pro from them.

2 weeks ago I switched to Three directly in a store. I was not told that my phone was locked to the Vodafone network and was unaware that this was a thing Irish providers did. Quite a nasty surprise when the switch happened.

I requested a NAC from Vodafone, but as I am not a Vodafone customer anymore, I'm encountering issues.

    I got 2 emails today:

    The first email contained:

"Unfortunately, the details provided to unlock your phone do not match with our records.

Kindly provide all the below details registered with Vodafone for us to proceed further with your NAC Request.

Please note that all details are mandatory and to be sent to nac.ie @vodafone.com.

Our NAC policy requires us to ensure that the mobile number have been used in conjunction with the requested IMEI.

    Mobile Number:

    Full Name:

SIM Number: (Long alphanumeric number behind your SIM Card)

Package Plan: (Name of the Vodafone plan on your mobile)

    Account Connection date:

    Account disconnection date:"

    etc.

Then, before I could even fill out this form with the few information I remember, I get another email, which says:

"We regret to inform you that we are unable to process your NAC request, as we can accept the request from account holder as the given details does not match with our database."

I am no longer a Vodafone customer. I can already see where this is going to go. Why is it so hard to get the code for a phone I purchased and used? They were more than happy to sell me a phone in the first place. "Our NAC policy requires us to ensure that the mobile number have been used in conjunction with the requested IMEI." Yes? That is what I have been doing. I've topped up for a higher amount than what is required to get the unlock as well.

Can't really call support without a usable phone, either. So now I'm stuck. Is unlock.ie a good alternative to be able to use the phone I paid for?
