2012 1.6 tdi bluemotion Passat, stop start system

    The stop start system in my car refuses to work. My mate a vw tech has ran scans etc but nothing showing up. Actually realised in the process the ss in his own 2011 passat not working either! Any ideas guys? Thanks

    Theres your problem.

    Also a VW tech but couldn't figure it out and didn't know his own wasnt working?

    Stop start is an annoying load of rubbish anyway.

    Could have been coded out.

    Thats a fact and head tech also had a go at if too. Thats what hes telling me anyway!

    It is turned off!

    I think what they do is change the voltage at which stop start will work, if you change the value to something like 15 volts, it will never kick in.

    Completely agree, imo it's only a matter of time before someone proves that an engine stopped and re-started say five times over the course of a minute uses more fuel than an engine left idling.

    Im not disagreeing with ye lads but ive only recently purchased the car and id like to have everything working!!

    Working in a garage and see many vws in ," ohh i have a light on the dash " I do hope you do motorway driving and not short journeys.

    It was an informed decision tbh. Im aware of the pitfalls but man they are such a comfortable solidly built powerful car I like thousands of others cant see past them lol. Plus i got a good deal lol

    I replaced the battery today with VWs economy battery 135e and ss working perfectly!
