    Hi
I have a question about registering calf from my neighbour's bull
For the last 2 years iv got my neighbour's bull to bull 2 heifers every year and iv registered the calves accordingly
I know this isn't good practice but I'm working full time and my own bull is too big for heifers and I'm not around for ai
Will there be implications down the line ?
I should probably move him into my herd for a month ,but the arrangement we have suits us both

Shouldn't be problem. They break out all the time. I have often used bulls from my dads herd

If you move him he will lose bvd status, you'll have to test him for both movements.

Sorry I don't understand this...its very simple to move a bull from one herd to another and back again......and we've done it without testing, where the bulls go to heifer farm and come back again after a shirt time.

As long as the animal is within TB test and neither farm is restricted, I can't see a problem.

It's a sort of a grey area but I can't see it causing any problems provided your neighbouring farmers. A bull "breaking" through a fence to serve a cow in an adjoining farm would be commonplace. It's a bit harder to explain if the bull is in a herd 10 miles away but I've still never heard of any problems stemming from those arrangements either.

Simple solution. Just put down the breed of calf. You don't have to register the bull.
But if your in a scheme maybe it's different
