This is something I am used to being able to do myself with other TLD's or is it something that IEDR make extremely labourious

Hi fritzelly,

There are some restrictions in place and they vary from one registry to another, the IEDR process is manual at the present I am afraid but if you open a ticket with our helpdesk we can assist as quickly as possible.
