New model BMW 330e

Hi

Anyone bought one yet? Am very interested in one with msport+ spec.

I'd say about €55k new and out since August, hoping to pick one up in Bavarian Belfast next August for closer to €40k....

Any thoughts?

I priced a 1 year old 530e in Sept at around €40k so hoping depreciation is similar.

The Irish Times had the 3 series as it’s number one car in its top one hundred list today and the 330e as it’s Best Buy.
I see very few new 3 series on the road though. Possibly too expensive and too close in price to a 5 series?

These are great cars, drove a 530e and I am sure the 330e is a great drive. I kinda like the 5 series size of car but might consider moving back to 3 size next, who knows......

One problem with our countries taxation though is companies can claim VAT back on diesel but not on petrol and at the moment, I have a fuel card through work and fill up for free on diesel to my hearts content. If I could have company funded petrol I would buy one of these in a heartbeat, I'd buy an early 530e msport plus tomorrow, depreciation has knocked 25k off these already

Both 530e and 330e depreciate like crazy even worse than regular bmw due to being so cheap to import from U.K. unless this changes with brexit I can’t see why anyone would buy one new here.

Yes that's why im thinking waiting until next summer and maybe getting one for around €40k?

Think list price for msport+ is around 56k. less 5k seai grant and 2.5k for vrt rebate you'd pay about 48k for brand new one.

so maybe even less than 40k after a year? not sure if those figures are correct, the online config doesn't seem to give grant info.

Put it this way, a 2016 330e SE is available in the UK for £12k now, now I wouldnt buy the one below but shows what they are worth now. I know its the old model but I guarantee the new one will be referred to as the old model very, very soon.

They are just way too expensive new but massive bargains to be had in 2nd hand market, forget about the new one for now!! Carsfan2 here in particular got burned on a trade in. I love new cars, reading about them, talking about them but when it comes to parting with my own money I draw the line in around 20k, in the hope I get half of it back in 2 to 3 years, any more than that makes me sad.

small price to pay to convert to euro and small VRT bill and the price of a ferry and you are bringing one across for about €16K euro. Now, the first one I saw that I would actually buy was an msport for £13.5k below, looks lovely although the mileage is a bit high, I suppose you could have this for in around €17.5k euro

Ok found this link which says it applies to certain hybrids/PHEVs from January:

So you need to check the Co2 on the particular model.

That looks like 330e will be safe as emissions are low enough.

From the site:

Relief for hybrid electric vehicles and PHEVs is being extended until 31 December 2020. Hybrid electrics with CO2 emissions in excess of 80 g/km and PHEVs with CO2 emissions in excess of 65 g/km do not qualify for the VRT relief from 1 January 2020.

The new model is between 31 and 41 g/km depending on wheels/options, the old one is rated at 49 from what I read, I assume that is minimum - I wonder if bigger wheels and a few extras would push it towards 65??

If they are figures used by VRY office, the 330e should be fine

I think it has more bearing on the G30 530e than the G20 330e. Still something to be aware of all the same.

My guess is a 50k car new now will be 36k in 1 year, 30 in 2 years, 24 in 3 years

So, maybe 36k or so for a 192 when it crosses that 1 year barrier

New model 330e is a good bit more expensive brand new than the older model was at launch. That and importing one post Brexit might not be as financially attractive as it was up to now which could mean used prices of new models going forward could actually hold better.

I am shocked they are so cheap in the UK but kind of understand because they were very popular fleet cars. That's why they are all very high mileage.

Assuming you have the facility to charge at home, they beat every 31x out there, so surely the depreciation is across the board?

I'd think about 20k for a well spec'ed 162 330e m-sport privately owned average mileage would be a very very good price today.

I think if you take spec into account the new model is not really any more expensive new here than the old one. Things like pro nav, heated seats, reverse camera, folding mirrors are all standard now on m sport. I like a fool paid extra for all these back in 2016.
The owners on the forums in the U.K. are saying that the new model is a huge step up in every way from the last one which was a good car itself.
Wait a little while and there will be loads available I’m guessing but they will be popular as the media move us all from diesel.

We need a 345e/545e with the B58 engine. The 745e just replaced the 740e in the 7 Series range and apparently it's nearly as efficient as the old 2.0 litre despite having two extra cylinders and an extra 1000cc.

Wouldn't assume anything with brexit but if you can find one I would expect a 50k car new to be 40k here in a year.

225xe is the best value of the lot imo

2019 25-26k all in from UK

Slightly more electric range than 330e, all wheel drive, 3 pot engine from i8 which sounds way better than 4 pot in 330/530e

Unless you have a litter of kids to ferry around I cannot think of one good reason to choose one of those over a 330e. Thankfully BMW saw the light and have stopped producing them now.

If it suits your needs then that is good value.
I’ve driven a couple of versions of the 2 series active tourer as loaners and they are nice to drive, good quality and spacious. Too expensive new here though like most Bmw’s.

It's a real pity that they have capped the charging capacity to 3.7kW, it's the same in the X45e 3.0L engine version in the X5. Fastest it will charge the battery then is 3.5hours
