Options for Water Filtering

We've just recently bought and moved into a house which pumps water from a nearby lake with no filtering. Water is simply pumped up to the tank in the attic via a pump in the yard and gravity fed to all taps/shower/toilet etc.

Until now the previous used the water for everything except drinking/cooking, which they would use bottled water for. We're currently doing the same as this for now but looking into options for water filtering.

I've started contacting water filtration companies and getting quotes, but don't really know the full picture of options available. We had water composition and micro organism tests done on the water supply to know what's needed.
Ideally we'd filter all of the water coming into the house (which is what the quotes have all been for so far), but we'd probably also be fine just filtering drinking water and using non filtered water elsewhere (something like an under the sink filter if that even would be enough).

We've also just spotted the individual well grant which on a quick look we may be eligible for with no mains/group scheme available.

So my questions that someone here may know more about would be:

    1. Is whole house filtering needed? Or would filtering the cold tap in the kitchen be enough?
    2. Is a full bespoke filtering system needed (quotes so far for 2.5k+) or is something generic like this guy worth looking into?
    3. Has anyone been eligible for this grant and was it reasonably straight forward?
