Clocked car? Advice needed

New to boards and need advice. I bought a 2011 car 5 years ago that had 110,000 kms on the clock at the time. I bought it for cash from a non SIMI registered dealer. Had a warranty and never had a issue with the car. Three months ago, I traded-in my 2011 car with another dealer and my old car had 170,000 kms on the clock. Very happy with my newer car and got a warranty with this one also. However, I just had a call from the dealer to say that the guy who bought my 2011 car from him some weeks ago did a diagnostic check and the true mileage is 270,000kms. At the time, I traded in the car, the dealer did a Cartell check and the mileage checked out fine and did the trade in deal in good faith. Dealer is now looking for me to return my newer model and wants me to take my 2011 car back. Any advice on this as I'm sick with worry? Thanks.

Tough luck. The dealer you traded it in with should have done his own diagnostic / mileage check (which you said he did and checked out) before taking it in.
    Ignore him.

It is the silly season after all.

Ignore them. Ignore any threats of legal action. Ignore any letters they send.

Most likely you'll never hear from them other than a phone call.

If you didn't know the car was clocked and the backround checks available to you confirmed it wasn't then legally you're not expected to have the technical knowledge to access the cars ECU to find out. That's up to the dealer......who clearly failed to check the car properly. They're just chancing their arm.

Tell him to swing for it.

Tell the dealer to hire the person who spotted the discrepancy as they are better at doing due diligence than the dealer.

Ask them to prove they did not clock it!

You have absolutely nothing to worry about, he hasn't a legal leg to stand on.
Block the dealers number, if he does write (which i doubt) bring it straight to your solicitor and ask them to reply. If he shows up at your house call the guards.
