Paternity leave/benefit

    Hi all,

Wife is due in January. I’m new in a job, first job and all that so I don’t have enough PRSI contributions to qualify for paternity leave or benefit. Are there any other options that I have to take time off?

Contacted HR in my company and they told me that my only option is to pretty much take it all off unpaid, which may be a bit difficult given the expenses I have for the first month for a first child. I was previously hoping to take the two weeks paternity leave and then additional two weeks parents leave, but I’m unsure.

    Any help appreciated!
