Had to get a BER done recently after completed insulatio work to get grant. Guy went on about gas firplace just been an open hole in the wall with air just flowing in through it. Now the gas fire is never used and the chimney is blicked with a pillow. Was thinking of installing a totally inclosed fire to stop any draffs coming in through the chimney but that might be an expensive solution. Anyone with any ideas on how to stop a draft from a chimney, is it ok to totally block a fireplace off? I have tried the chimney baloon and pollow up the chimney but still a draft coming in, anyone with any ideas.

If you are blocking up the chimney you should remove the Gas Fire Unit or at least have it isolated from the Gas Supply pipework.

What about putting in a totally inclosed gas fire, would that be a solution to drafts coming from chimney, even tbough it will be an expensive solution?
