The title made me think of a company a friend of mine worked for in the U.K.

They made custom specialised remote liquid monitoring systems, was a hap hazard ran affair and the boss would take on a job and then try figure a solution afterwards.

Anyhow they were up against a deadline to ship a system but they needed a few days grace, rather than face a late penalty the boss got the lads to close up an empty packing crate and ship it on to the customer.

Sue the customer rang bewildered a few days later he pretended to blow a fuse about how incompetent the lads were and some would loose their job. He took a photo of the system sitting (now finished) in the warehouse and got it express shipped to the customer ASAP.

Gave the lads a bonus for using them as a scapegoat.

    Took some balls.
