Hey guys, many moons ago I bought a lovely Onkyo 707 av receiver from you. The amp has given up, I have video but no audio. Its a known issue with the DTS chips. I don't think it's worth repairing and long term success not a guarantee.

What could you recommend as a solid av replacement. Not stuck to Onkyo as a brand.

I don't know if I want to spend as much on a new amp as i did with the 707. Amp needs to have a bit of grunt and good to power my Monitor Audios BR5s and play some bass heavy choons!

Open to all suggestions, open box, clearance etc.

    Damien

    Hi Damien.

I suppose it depends on your budget.

I have a nice little deal on the Yamaha RXA680 priced at £419
    https://www.richersounds.ie/p-203497-yamaha-rxa680-black-atmos-av-receiver.aspx

Denon have the excellent AVRX2600 priced at £449
    https://www.richersounds.ie/p-204145-denon-avrx2600-black-atmos-av-receiver.aspx

Going upwards there is the Denon AVRX3600 coming in at £799
    https://www.richersounds.ie/p-204285-denon-avrx3600-black-dolby-atmos-av-receiver.aspx

Onkyo have their TXRZ740 priced at £749

Let me know if any of these might be of interest to you.

    Thanks Kenny

I think I may need to go down in price a little. With young kids I don't get the same usage out of a receiver as I used to!

    Say 350€

    Thanks!

    Hey TechnoFreek.

You could checkout the Sony SRTDH790 priced at 339 Euro

Or the Denon AVRX550BT priced at 269 Euro

Thanks Kenny. My bank manager says yes to those prices but the nerd in me wants to move up a notch.

Thoughts on the onkyo 686 versus Sony 1080?
Reviews on both seem good and similar spec. Thanks

    Hey TechnoFreek.

For me it would be the Sony over the Onkyo.

If your thinking back at that budget I would seriously consider the Yamaha RXA680 mentioned above as its current price is a bargain.

    Hey TechnoFreek.

If your not feeling the Yamaha then the Sony 1080 would be the one to go for followed by the Denon 2600.
