    Hi all,

2008 W204 with OM 646 engine. Got an oil warning on the dash, no red lights or anything just text to say it should be checked. Unfortunately I need to leave at 6am tomorrow and the only oil I could find was Sprint 5w30c3 fully synthetic. Am I ok to top up with this if needs be? It's the only place local that was open and had any oil.

Car is due a service in the next couple of weeks.

Any oil is better than low or no oil.

The oil spec for most of the Mercs with DPF which requires low ash spec is sheet 229.31 or 229.51 (long life). The 229.3 and .5 is for non-DPF models but all of the W204 have DPF. 5W-30 is the correct weight to use in Ireland.

In a pinch 228.51 would also do but they are mineral based so shorter drain interval required and as most of that stuff is 15W-40 you'd have worse fuel consumtion at winter time.
