Kessel shower trap

    Hoping someone can advise on cleaning the trap.

    The shower trap seems to be blocked as it is draining very slowly so I am trying to clear it out. I lifted of the metal bar across it and found a lid underneath it.

    My questions is should I be able to take that lid out to clean underneath it? It doesn't seem to fit out of the opening so is there some knack to it or was it setup wrongly maybe? Pictures attached
