Finally bought my first EV secondhand and I'm charging it with a granny cable borrowed from a friend till I buy my own, it's essential to buy my own and quickly as some destinations will require me to bring the granny cable to just get enough charge to get home again.

What cable length would you recommend? Is it ok to use and extension lead fully wound out occaasionally?

I also need to get a wall charger sorted but not sure what to get as I have a geothermal heat pump at home, I already have nightrate.

    Thank you

Thats pretty lousy by the seller by not giving you the cable that came with the car originally.

I had to buy one for my car (different type to yours) and it cost €185.

I've got the one that connects to public Ac chargers but as far as I know older leafs didn't come with a granny cable.

Any length extension cable fully unwound should be fine. I have used a 15m one with our granny cable on several occasions. If you forget to unwind it the thermal protection trips so based on this it's a really good idea to get one with thermal protection to guard against forgetfulness.

What is your main fuse rated at? Any other big consumers like electric showers? I suspect that the heat pump would be rated at about 20-30A so 10A granny charger is quite safe even as long as you don't cook a christmas dinner at the same time when car is charging and the heat pump going at full blast.
