Google Maps issues

Recently Google Maps has started killing my Huawei Nova 3i.

The app stops working and I get an icon on the top left that looks like a sim card. I think I lose network also. The phone gets hot and all I can do is shut the phone down and restart.

I'm not sure what the problem is. The icon looks like a Sim card but it never says to insert sim card or that there is an issue with the sim card. The phone also gets quite hot.

I dropped it down the toilet over the summer and it came back to life after a couple of days but it has only been in the past couple of weeks that this issue as cropped up.

    Anyone ever experience the same?

The GPS chip is probably on your baseband, the same bit that runs the radio. A phone is essentially two computers in one and one is crashing.

Try running this for 10 mins, see if the same happens.

    Thanks ED E

So what should I be looking for on this app? I've downloaded it and the plugin.

Just run it and let it try and lock onto satellites to test the GPS (try it outdoors).
See if you get the same issue as with Google maps... If you do then potentially the GPS could be shot.

Doesn't appear to be any issues there.

If you're technical - try using logcat over adb to spot whats happening.

If you're not, use a third party mapping app.
