Built under oven query

    Hi,

Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but hopefully someone can advise.

Our kitchen is from Ikea and we are hoping to make a couple of changes to it.

The section of the kitchen in question is laid out as followed (from left to right).

    1. Corner base unit.
    2. Filler panel
    3. Integrated dishwasher.
    4. Integrated washing machine
    5. Tall wall unit with built in Oven and Microwave.

Now, we are moving our washing machine to a new Utility room and want to replace it with a built under oven.

My question is, does this need a carcass built and fitted for the oven to sit in?

And if not, is there enough support for the oven on either side? To it's right there is a tall unit with side panels, so I guess that is ok.
But to its left there is just the dishwasher, no side panel, so nothing for the oven to screw into.

There is a space of 62cm between the dishwasher and the existing tall unit.

Also - if we need to build in a unit/housing for the oven - is this possible without removing the worktop?

    Lots of questions, I know!

Who would I get to look at this - a kitchen company? A carpenter? A handyman?

Does W/M sit on the floor now, with a false kicker board in front?
    .
    what size is the oven?
the worth should not have to come out.
    .
you may need a recipe for the wiring.
    .
Do you have the required isolation switches?

The washing machine sits on the floor, and yes, behind the kickboard.

Haven't picked out the oven yet - they seem to be either 87cm tall or 72cm tall.

Haven't even considered the wiring to be honest. At the moment there are switches on the wall at worktop level for Oven, WM, DW, Hob. Will it be a big job to add wiring for a 2nd oven?

For me. And this is what we did when we put in the new kitchen. You'll want the oven and waist height. Makes easier to load. And easier to see the cooking status of what's inside.putting ovens on the deck is bad ergonomics.

If you want to replace a washing machine with a built in over you will need a side panel at dishwasher and a base or side rails to support oven. A carpenter would be best suited to do this.

Regarding wiring etc it will depend on the power requirements of the oven and the existing power requirements of current equipment. An electrician could look at your current wiring configuration/sizing and advise.

We have an existing built in single oven at a height.

We are moving washing machine to a new utility room, so we are really just looking for something to fill the gap - we decided a 2nd oven would be nice to have.

Will you use it ? What about a built in waste bin with seperate recycling areas.

Oven seems like a pointless thing unless you are entertaining all the time.

A built under oven cabinet would be the obvious solution. Pretty sure you'll get one in Ikea to match their odd height cabinets.

Assemble the cabinet, put on the legs. Wind the legs down to make the cabinet shorter. Slide under worktop. Wind legs back up until the cabinet reaches the worktop.

Stick an end panel to the side of the new cabinet to fill the 20mm gap you'd otherwise be left with.

They have cabinets to fit single ovens, that's definitely an option I've looked at.

Unfortunately, they have discontinued our door/drawer fronts, and the oven cabinets include space for a 20cm drawer at the bottom. Nothing ever simple!

    Thanks,

If we can source the correct drawer front that looks like potentially the best option

What you can do is get a stainless steel oven and then get the Ikea GREVSTA accent door/drawer which is also stainless steel.

Use the same handles as you have on the other doors to tie it all together visually.

You’ll need a cabinet as the integrated washing machine is freestanding.

You could also look at a plate warmer which might fill the space too.
