Just looking into the Vanderbilt and gsd apps. These both do IP polling and can quickly inform you when it's gone down. But how does it inform you does the phone ring or do you have to have the app open. For example even when using the Vanderbilt demo app the phone doesn't even ring if the app is open and the alarm is activated. It just flashes red. Doesn't seem much use. Is there an option for gsm going down and ip going down if the phone line is cut and it ringing the phone as for sure that is a burglar. With hkc I think you have to pay monthly for rapid notice of ip going down but again what's the app like does it ring the phone even if the app isn't open. Which app is better?
    Cheers

    Hi
You can set it up as a push notification with whatever alert you set from the phone. With Vanderbilt you can also set up an email alert also with its own alert type.
With HKC the poll times will be slower even on the paid for options.

Cool thanks, can android phones be set to play a ringtone rather than the standard short message beep for notifications?

Yes. You simply place a ringtone into the notifications folder.
Also look uo app notifier pro2.
