SkyQ - No Satellite Signal on Some Channels

Have been experiencing this over the past couple of days. Reset the boxes, etc. to no avail. I'd say about half the channels have no signal such as Sky Atlantic and Virgin. It's happening on the main box and mini-boxes.

I've tried calling Sky, but I just went on hold for about 20 mins and then got cut off. Their online help isn't much use either. The only option was to book an engineer and the earliest appointment is Dec 9. Terrible service considering I'm paying over €130 per month.

I replaced the dish a few years back and it's very solid and hasn't needed to be touched since. There also hasn't been any mad weather recently that could have knocked it out of alignment. I'm guessing that if it went out of alignment I'd lose all channels and not just some of them.

Has anyone any suggestions. It could be that I need a replacement main box.

With SkyQ one cable carries the Hor. channels and the other cable the vertical channels. Looking at the polarisation of the channels you mention they appear to be Horizontal - https://en.kingofsat.net/pos-28.2E.php.

Initially I would check each cable connection to the box and to the LNB on the dish if possible to ensure they are correctly secured.

The fault could also be with an output on the LNB at the dish or faulty cable.

Thanks. I switched cables at the back of the box, but still had the same channels missing. Would that rule out the LNB?

No, it could be a faulty LNB output. Could also be a bad connection at the LNB or damaged cable.

Cheers. I'll get up and take a look at the LNB.

I dont have a q box but there is usually a facility to check signal levels and that would a good place to start before loo.king at lnb. For the future I would get a hybrid lnb fitted. And have a spare box.

sky have a freephone number 1800 92 74 76 say you want to cancel, if you are out of contract, it takes 31 days so you can rejoin in seconds and for 130 a month you should get a swift response.
