Phone went for a swim

Phone took a brief dip into the sea today. After like a minute or displayed low battery and switched off.

I live in Australia so I pretty much cooked it in the sun for the last few hours and I've tried it there and it turned back on and everything is working as expected.

However I understand salt water = very bad.... Should I just plan for this phone to fail soon and get a new one in (it's a budget ZenFone, no great loss) or just use away, it'll probably be fine...

I'm just mindful of Xmas deals soon is all. I've had the phone a year and wouldn't want to upgrade really. I'm just not sure what corrosion does to a phone in the short/medium/long term.

I'd be getting a new phone. Getting a phone soaked in water is bad, salt water is terminal.

Sad face.... It's working right now but I do appreciate salt water does bad things what you can't see.

At least xmas deals will be coming up so I'll get a reasonable deal.

It's a zenfone max pro m1. Was looking to straight upgrade to the m2. Don't suppose there's any other alternatives that fits the requuirements of big screen, battery and stock android and doesn't cost the earth?

Get your info and data off the phone ASAP while it's still working. Salt water will corrode the components really quick. One day the phone will just die..

Already done. Wasn't much that wasn't backed up to the cloud anyway.

Just trying to settle on an upgrade.

Redmi note 8 pro I can get past the non stock android as it looks awesome otherwise but it currently doesn't run Netflix in full HD

Mi 9T Same but that dumb pop up selfie cam although a phone with an amoled screen might be nice....

Zenfone max pro m2 probably the winner unless I put my trust in xiaomi to get the 8 pro fixed with netflix.
