What area? Melbourne is a big city? CBD or suburb?
What cuisine? style? Fine dining or cool and casual

I would go for somewhere out of Melbourne, like the Yarra Valley or down the Bellarine peninsula, a nice vineyard where they can have a good lunch and take a bottle or two of wine home.

We were in Melbourne on honeymoon a few years ago and we ate in the Taxi Dining Rooms on Federation Square. It was a lovely meal in a beautiful restaurant.

This was a fair few years ago, though, so it would be worth getting a more recent opinion on it!

Love Shu restaurant. Highly recommend it for a great foodie experience.

The wine pairing is fantastic and well worth the extra cost.

You could get them a Crown voucher, that way they can pick from a number of restaurants in the complex. Nobu and Rockpool are both really good. Or they could just blow it all in the casino!

That closed down a year or so ago.
