Plasterboard ripped off with skirting - Best practice to replace

Hello,

I have removed skirting board in order to lay oak floors and, as expected, quite a bit of the plasterboard wall has come with it in places.

The walls are metal stud walls and don’t have any sole plates and limited (if any) wooden studs.

In the places where all of the plasterboard has come away, and there is no sole plates or vertical studs to fix to, what is best practice to fill these holes before putting the skirting back on?

I’m as concerned about draughts and sound proofing as much as having a surface to screw to.

Following this as I'm in a similar situation.

Cut along the paint line or just below it with a pad saw or good Stanley blade. Then replace. If you go above the line you will have to plaster it or use filler to hide the fact that it has been replaced

Try bonding first. Sand. Then finishing plaster.

None of that's particular bad. Don't go cutting out straight lines yet. It's easily rectified.

The skirting will be higher up now so clean off the paint tline for a smoother finish.
Whats the plan fo refixing

As above mix up some bonding and refinish behind the skirting. Knock away any loose bits of plaster board. Old school Hardware’s will sell small bags of bonding for patch work.
