ZGEMMA H10 COMBO

I see ZGemma are releasing the H10 Combo in the next couple of weeks.

The hardware looks good and it includes 2 Sat and Terrestrial tuner.
Interestingly, it offers both Android and Linux(Enigma2) so can possibly offer the best of both worlds.

I was looking at the Gigablue UHD Quad 4k but it is way more expensive and has been around a couple of years. Apart from the FBC tuners (I'm not a big recorder), it doesn't seem to offer anything extra.

Any thoughts on this box or ZGemma as a brand in general?

The main thing that would have me wary of a brand new box is that the software would be equally new and undeveloped. I'd be inclined to wait a few months from that point of view. As for the dual OS. I reckon it would soon become tiresome having to reboot each time you wanted to switch from one app to another.

    Just my 2 cents worth

I agree on the dual boot thing. I was thinking Android apps alongside enigma 2 functionality. If I had to reboot the box, I wouldn't bother.

I can wait until Feb. I would like to get a stb that has been recently released (<1 year) though as the hardware will be much more capable of being new standards and support is likely to be longer.

It would have been a contender but I've just realised that DVB-S2X only refers to a single satellite tuner (not two).

It'll be the main recording box so will need 2 SAT and 1 Terrestrial tuner.
I guess that rules out the H10 as well.

But you lose the terrestrial tuner then.

you would have terrestrial tuner built in to tv and you can record on to usb stick plugged in to tv,any how feck all on terrestrial tv :D

I'd agree with you on the terrestrial TV. I only ever used to tune into it for sport but there is very little left there.

Unfortunately, my wife does watch RTE. Flicking between inputs would drive me crazy so really need an all-in-one Channel List/EPG.

well you could get a iptv sub on the box and you would have all the channels on the box :)

It's an option. The Formuler Z8 seems to have a pretty slick app to run IPTV.

The problem is IPTV is not reliable enough at the moment so would still need the Sat/Saorview feeds as backup.

Ideally, I'd like a single box that can do it all, Satellite /Saorview/IPTV/Streaming Apps (IPlayer, 4OD etc.).

I'm very happy with the Zgemma H7S. Front display is crap but everything else is working as well as I could hope for. Was watching a 4k60fps mkv file earlier, smooth as a babies......

The H7S seems to tick all the boxes.

I'd be happy to spend more on a main box but not sure it can be justified.
