What travel website has the best search facility

I'm looking for a break over New Year's, and I'm totally open to ideas on where to go, as long as the price is right.

I've been on a few websites just now though, and the search functions are pretty poor. They either show you all sorts of holidays, won't let you choose a wildcard like All Destinations, offer you a callback (which I don't want, since I'm at work), etc.

What is the best site for just entering dates, number of people, departure airport, and then giving you back a simple list of results sorted by price, etc?

skyscanner offers you a choice of flights from say Dublin to anywhere, then countries are listed and then you see the cities and also an idea of hotel prices.

Just a tangent, but possibly useful to know, that some cities might actually have cheaper hotels than normal like Frankfurt or Brussels due to the fact that they make their cash all year long from business travellers, bankers, diplomats, trade fairs etc and when those cash cows are not in town they offer cheap deals. Just with a random query I can see that you can get a double room in Frankfurt the likes of Premier inn or Novotel for about €50 a night and many others a slight bit more.

And before anyone lands with the Frankfurt is cr@p line, I'd counter with the fact that theres heaps for a tourist to do with lots of interesting museums and whatnot. Brussels also has its detractors , but its still a great base for Bruges, Ghent, Leuven, Antwerp etc.
