fixing/replacing pipe below bathroom sink

    so this is leaking. whenever water is flowing, many drops come out of there.

    i believe the lower "S"-pipe opening (if that is what its called) seems to have a bigger diameter than the pipe it connects to. which i believe is the reason it was sealed up with silicone by the previous owner.

    now whats the best solution here?
    can i remove the lower vertical pipe? the connections look kinda permanent - i havent yet tried to twist it to remove it, dont want to break it. the S pipe looks newer than the lower pipes.

    after so many purchases after buying this house we dont have much money left right now, so i'd rather do this myself somehow intead of hiring a plumber and paying 150 bucks for something that i can potentially fiy myself by buying pipes/parts for what, 10-20 euros?!

    It looks like the compression joint between the pipe coming from the floor and the trap is not tightened enough. From the 3rd pic, it looks like it may have had glue or silicone put around it, possibly to stop the leak. Is that is the case it may make fixing trickier, if you can't get it off.


    If you haven't already, try tighten the compression joint by hand. If that doesn't work, unscrew it and check the condition of the rubber cone seal. You may have to replace them https://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-32mm-trap-seal-kit-packet-4-pcs/99076

    the joint you're talking about is the screw "collar" that can be "screwed" up and down, right?

    i've tried multiple "settings", screwing up it, screwing it down, in the middle etc, it still leaks.

    i've not yet pulled the pipes apart and checked the seals, gonna do that soon.

    Yes, that's what I'm talking about. It should screw down. It looks like it's at the end of the thread. Looking at the pics again, it looks the pipe it's connecting to may to too short, if there's no give in it.
