BMW 330e aux battery registration

Hi Folks,

So my aux battery in the 330e is shot, which is preventing the ICE from starting up from idle. Obviously isn't too much a problem when I'm moving in electric, as the switch still happens from electric into ICE

I'm going to fit a battery this week, have have all the details of how to do it, but I'll need to register it to the car. I think the battery will work from the off, but the registration error will appear

Would anyone in North Dublin, or Dublin have the ISTA+ software, and can help a brother out ;-) ? I think Carly works too, and possibly Bimmercode

I would love to know how you got on with the battery replacement? Where did you get the new battery and how much did it cost?

Sorry haven't been on this in a the last couple of days.

I ended up getting this from the UK

It wasn't too straight forward installing it. If only I had small hands! I ended up downloading the ISTA+ from bimmerfest, buying a cable from ebay , and registering myself

Thanks for the reply, I totally misread the post! I taught you were on about the ev battery!

I am looking to buy a 330e second hand and it's the fear of the ev battery that is holding me back at the minute. Still must do some research. I am actually curious to what they would cost to replace!

Do you have details on how to register the battery with ISTA+ or a link to the bimmerfest thread that explains it?
Also that ebay link you posted has expired. Do you have a new one to a similar cable?

I was in at BMW recently and they are asking for 240e to replace it. 77e for battery, the rest for labor.
I was thinking it could be an easy enough fix myself and found a youtube video below explaining it.
Also mine isn't actually failing yet, there was just some age related warning logged in the system (162 330e).
The replacement battery they listed might be slightly different to yours actually, 40AH instead of your linked 44AH:

Also there is a service bulletin on the starter motor which the auxiliary battery is related to.
Does this mean BMW should replace the auxiliary battery for free?
