Says 6 to 8 weeks for most test centres.
We have an employee in work we are sponsoring to start driving as we want him to be able to drive a van. He can drive, he just never did his lessons and hasn't done a test yet obviously.
If he starts lessons next week with an approved instructor, when can he apply for test?
Could he apply straight away and have his 12 lessons done before sitting test or does he have to do 12 lessons first and then apply?

    They’re pretty up to date.
The big question is how long does he have his learner permit? He may have to wait 6 months from the date of issue to his test date.

You can apply the day you get the learner permit. The application isn’t the issue. It comes down to the 6 month rule and the completion of the EDT lessons.

In other words, there’s nothing stopping him applying for his test. He won’t get a date until a) the 6 month rule is over and b) he’s taken his 12 EDT lessons and his ADI has uploaded them.

Learner permit is over a year, he has just renewed it according to him.

He can apply now if he wants. Depending on how well he drives he could rattle through the 12 lessons before he gets a date.
