Absolutely don’t touch those, they aren’t safe, the forces on a seatbelt buckle in an impact are huge.

I can’t open your links, and I can’t link because I’m on my phone. But, there’s one type of seat belt extender that seems to be recommended and safe, it’s only short, when I googled it, it seems to be called a 3” rigid seat belt extender, but you could check that out. If the rsa check it fits Is near you any time soon, I would highly recommend paying them a visit, they’re an amazing resource

What site did you find this seat belt extender on? Ebay, amazon or some other place?

Out of interest, why does the car matter?

    But it’s a Nissan Leaf.

I haven’t bought them myself, I just googled it to try to get the answer to your question. I just looked there, and they seem to be only on the American amazon page.

Because some car manufacturers sell seat belt extenders as an accessory, and because seat belt buckles aren’t universal.

Nissan part number for one that fits the Leaf is 86848-1FC0A

    Ah ok. Thank you.

Would this be regarded as safe then? Or still dodge?

Well it’s a Nissan part so it won’t be made from cheese-grade metal.

    This is just so odd!

I've a nissan leaf for nearly 5 years, my two kids are both in carseats/boosters, now age 8 and 5, and I often take another passenger in between them. I've never had a seconds issue with the seatbelts, the children have both been doing them themselves for years. Is the problem how you have fitted the car seats?

It’s doing my nut in. Think it’s because the car seats are just too wide. They are just high back boosters.

On another leaf I tested (2011) no issues with the exact. same seats.

Ignore the sand on the seats... this is my seatbelt clip on one side, loads of room there to the carseat. Is yours the same, or is the seatbelt shoved down into the seats?

It’s the exact same. But my car seat is more a less up against it.

Can you shimmy the carseat an inch the other way?

If there's no room between the buckle and the car seat, it sounds like you'll need new car seats.

The only place I found that fit what you need is mobility ireland.

Part is available from Nissan main dealers and requires no specialist fitting.

I have these for my own car and they are grand, (apart from needing hands like king kong to get the bloody things on in the first place!) but they aren't going to help you going on that photo. All they do is hold the receiver upright.

I can but the back seat is not entirely flat, kinda curves at the side, so car seats then kinda sit wonky.

they might stop the reciever from slipping down the gap (this happens when you put any force at all on the receiver part)
