Need To Sell Trees

So, we have about 270 acres of trees planted. They're a mixture of evergreen and hardwood. They were planted 22 years ago (around that anyway). We want to sell them but have no idea who to go to. They're semi mature so it probably doesn't help. Anyone know anyone who would want to buy the trees and land?

Give us a clue as to plantation location and approximate mix of species, that should produce some further suggestions.

Sorry to hear you must sell, a forest of your own is a wonderful thing.
    However
Paul Lafferty at forestsales.ie might be able to help.
    I've no affiliation,
I just love to browse and dream of buying more forest at some stage in the future, he's an estate agent who specialises in forest sales.
best of luck with the sale

you are being very generous there Tim,
he's an estate agent with a website, after that you are on your own I found him useless and that's being as PC as I can.

there have been a few lads in the journal looking for plantations, Arbor or SWS and another one a few months ago.

pick up the phone ring them and it'll get you started.
Plenty independent foresters out there might get you a rough value.

best of luck with it either way

    Hi Dozer,

As i said, I have had no dealings with the dude, sorry to hear that you found him useless.
    Are there others out there?

When it comes to finding folk useless, I've had little luck over the years with Foresters and Forestry companies, It seems to me they are all in the business of "farming grant money" and they have consistently failed in long term thinking and planning.

For example rides improperly planned passing through boggy or difficult ground. Pretty borders of "diversity" planted around the outside edge of the planting where they will likely need removal or be severely damaged during subsequent forest operations. A great deal of imagination will be required when it comes time to market all the alder planted at maturity, uses and markets for mature alder in Ireland anyone?

And as for folk planting with no idea of what to do with their forest afterwards, well just don't get me started!!

    well rant over

270 acres is a big area. Was it planted very densely? Or can you walk through it.

If there is a private messaging on the website I can give you my number and we can discuss what you have for sale.

I have client of mine on the look out for forests to purchase at the moment anywhere in the country.

I'll need some more details and possibly some maps to see what the forest is like and see how we go after that.
