Filling in an unwanted light switch.

I have two light switches side by side in one of my rooms. One of them is a secondary switch for a light in the room. I no longer need/want it. What would be the best procedure for removing the switch and leaving things as if it was never there at all?

How do I safely retire the wires in the switch? Do I remove the back box? What should I fill it with?

Get an electrician in to remove the box and take care of the wires, fill in the hole with bonding plaster and smooth over with filler and sand back before painting

Simplest and safest thing id imagine would be to just remove the switch and replace it with a blanking plate.

Sorry I should have mentioned this is not an option I'm considering.

Simplest option is to leave it alone.

    In fairness.

Is it worth paying someone 200 euro to fill it in ?

The switch is physically blocking the placement of something else unfortunately. That's why I asked in DIY, so I wouldn't have to pay someone to do it.

Electrical work is one of these things where if you have to ask how to do something, you probably shouldnt be doing it, at least unsupervised.

Yeah I thought I'd check in case there was a quick safe way of doing it without professional help.
