Card kicked from Ecars

I pulled up to Liffey Street slow charger on Wednesday. The port would not open on the CP. Thinking it was broken, I made my way to the one across from Heuston station. Another Leaf was charging, so I figured I was in luck. My card was not recognised.

I rang ecars and explained what happened. My card was not working because someone else has the same card number and apparently "it happens". So, someone registered for a new card with ecars and my card card was used on this other persons card, which basically cancelled my card. The CC rep was able to remotely start the car, which was fine, but I had to phone in again, in the lashing rain to have them release my car from the CP.

The card we keep in our other Leaf still works fine, as of today, but I think ecars are recycling existing card numbers when customers are setting up new card accounts. Beware, you could end up getting stuck if this happens to you.

I ordered 2 new Pay As You Go cards. You have to topup the account with €20 and pay €10 for any additional cards. I planned on getting new cards anyway for the rare occasion the rapid chargers are used, but I feel a bit forced into it sooner than intended because of what happened.

You should have signed up for the free years subscription instead, cheaper charging rates

I very rarely use the rapid chargers. I charge at home mostly and use destination charging once per week on average. Wasn't aware of the free year sub though.
