    Hi all,

Engine is shot in my 2005 Touareg. Really like the car so would ideally like to keep it (very handy for kids).

Would consider an engine swap. Any idea of the cost, or if I can get this done?

Its a 2.5 tdi r5. Given Im swapping anyway, Id consider putting in the 2.5l v6.

Am I wasting my time? Will this be too costly?

    Thanks in advance,
    Martin

Whatever about the cost of swapping like for like, if you go the route of a different engine type then complications will make it prohibitive. Engine mounts, ECU, etc may differ.

Value of vehicle Vs cost of engine replacement wouldn't make economic sense I wouldn't think

If your swapping to a different engine then I'd imagine the gearbox might have to be changed along with possibly the ECU too if they are different. On a 2005 car I just couldn't see it being financially viable.
