    Hi All

Is there an easy way to remove the old insulation rather than gather/bag and remove through the attic hatch?

i would love some industrial hoover type thing that would just suck it out.

the reason I ask is because I would like to use the hard foam type stuff rather than the wool between the joists, so that I could then floor over them for storage

    Thanks

Easist way to do it is to pay some sap to do it. It's a poxy job.

Complete madness, just floor over it.
    .
There are many threads on here about how it should be done.

    Nice sentiments indeed.
What's your definition of a sap?
    .
You will never get the rigid to work properly in a finished attic.
    .
In any event if you put weight on the rigid you will pop the ceiling fixings/crack the ceilings

Joists are only 4x2 so would only have 4inches of insulation unless I raised the floor.

If it's just for storage (which it will be with 4 inch joists) use insulated boards over the existing.
