    Hi all,

I've ordered a package from the US and it's coming via USPS. The most recent tracking update is the following:
    November 5, 2019, 7:43 am
    Departed
    DUBLIN, IRELAND
Your item departed a transfer airport in DUBLIN, IRELAND on November 5, 2019 at 7:43 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination.

Now I realise things take time, but that's 6 days and nothing has happened since.
Has anyone had this happen before, and if so, should I contact them?

Most likely gone to portlaoise to the customs mountain, two weeks in portlaoise wouldn't be unusual. If your email is on the invoice they will email you telling you how much you owe, otherwise the postman may come looking for exact change on the doorstep.

Thanks for the reply. I have another package from the same business coming through USPS and that was dispatched a week later, yet has been delivered.

I wonder what has happened with the other one - both packages are virtually identical in terms of contents.

I’ve contacted the seller and have tried to contact USPS - AnPost have not received it. With the most recent one that has been delivered, USPS acknowledged when it was handed over to An Post

I can only speak from experience, its usually electronics parts I order from the states and whether it goes to customs or not is a bit of lottery that seems to depend more on the size of the package than the contents and their value. But it can disappear for two weeks until its scanned in portlaoise. If the contents are very difficult to catgorise for vat/duty there can be further delays. If you will be ordering regularly from the states then it might be worth finding out the customs category and asking the sender to mark the label. And get them to include you phone number and email on the invoice.

Thanks so much for the help. I'm just puzzled really because this is the first and only time that it hasn't been quick delivery, and it's the same exact packaging and type of item (and value). I've made contact with the sender and with USPS so hopefully it gets sorted soon.
