Busy in the mornings leaving Lusk, a steady trail of vehicles as we all try to get somewhere. Plenty of cars, buses busy. Trains I assume are hectic too, I've only used them on the home stretch lately, tbh.

Not to mention, the evening side of the equation and we've more houses coming. How's it out your way and what's the future going to look like?

More and more houses being built, and no improvement in transport (bar a ring road to allow for......more houses)

Fingal CC have really really dropped the ball and have been walked all over by developers and the government.

I'm in Donabate and the place is a complete mess. There are so many new housing estates under construction and many recently built. Add to that the Forensic Mental Health facility and the traffic and disruption that causes and it's a recipe for disaster. The roads are in bits and are filthy from construction traffic. There are endless stop/go systems in place. Transport is a complete joke. The Go Ahead bus service to Swords is unreliable. My son travels to DCU every day and it can take almost two hours if he misses his connection in Swords. Our local politicians are working hand in hand with the developers and have no interest in the objections of locals. If you say anything you're labelled a NIMBY. The population is estimated to reach 20,000 in a few years, the same as Naas and Athlone and what do we have? One overpriced supermarket, a couple of pubs and a couple of bookies.

    Not holding my breath.

I've grown up around here and remember the 33 coming once an hour - or so.And the old carparks at the train station. And commuting to UCD on trains where there were none back home in the middle of the day. And the bypass being built and the M1 being opened. Lusk, Rush and North Dublin in general have just never been on the agenda for public transport improvements or anything similar. It's like we fall in this weird Bermuda Triangle between "sure you're in Dublin, you're all well served by transport unlike us outside the county/sure you're in the country, we can charge the higher fares because you're outside city limits/sure you're within commuting distance to Dublin, it's a perfect spot to build loads and loads of houses." It's almost like we don't exist as a population location - unless they are looking for places to put dumps, prisons, sewage treatment plants or (lately) bump up the house building stats.

Fundamentally we need more buses, we need a better train line that includes a spur to the airport (yes a whole other argument I know), and the towns of Rush, Lusk, Balbriggan and Donabate need a whole lot of investment around town centres - proper shops, education investment, sporting facilities investment, the creation of proper town centres and the encouragement of decent businesses in these areas. BEFORE any more houses are built.

Will it happen?Very unlikely. Spent my life here and what's happening is just Round 2 of what happened 10-15 years ago.

So does that mean there's a bus to the Airport every 30 mins from Donabate stopping in Swords or is there a change in Swords? The service to UCD is a year too late for us, daughter graduated this year. No mention of DCU.

The worrying thing is this could be a 12 round fight.

To me the towns of Rush, Lusk Balbriggan and Donabate are been used like dumping grounds without any real thought been put into transport, educational facilities and amenities.

All schools are under pressure and this could have a very negative effect. The way houses are been built is a joke little or no green space and as for my last trip to Dublin on a train it was like a slow set in Lucianos night club, there was no space to move on the train and a lady about 2 feet away got weak it was so stuffy. This is an accident or tragedy waiting to happen but possibly a proper more targeted bus service could ease pressure but we need extra carriages .

I agree the airport needs a train service of some sort or light rail but I fear it wont happen in my lifetime.

A proper 33x service is vital with 2 or 3 extra busses in the morning between 6.30 and 8am. It is a very good service I believe, I havent used but my son and daughter have.
33X FROM Skerries should come to Loughshinny and go via Baldungan and Lusk the next should leave from Loughshinny and go via Rush. I think it would make it more appealing to commuters. Perhaps a 33x at 9am and on the hour up to Noon. There is a serious amount of building going on in Rush and Lusk at moment so there is a need for more frequent service that people can trust.

I leave Rush at 4.50am and it is surprising the amount of traffic I pass and people waiting on 5am bus at most stops from Main st Rush to monument in Skerries. A few years ago an odd car would pass me at 6.30 now every morning 8/10 pass me.

Generally it is, and we're fortunate to have it. Not perfect, there's a thread here. I'm not a big user because it doesn't really work for me, my office is past UCD and there's just that 10-15 minute window where all it takes is for one thing to go wrong and I'm gonna be late. If I miss a 46A or 145 soon after the 33X that can scupper things. I'd welcome an earlier start for the first time and a 6:15pm or 6:30pm one in the evening. Making the 6pm one is tricky at best.

As an aside, perhaps someone should do a survey of 100 people each from Rush, Lusk, Skerries, etc, re commuting methods, distances, etc.
