If its a hatch and one is fitted, should be at side, if saloon and fitted it's looking down from the top of boot.

I found the bulb, I thought it was fused but I can see now it's cracked, the cover that goes above the bulb is missing hence something must have hit against the bulb in the boot and it ended up cracked, will get a new bulb and try and get a new cover. Appreciate your help.

Don't bother getting a new cover. You won't get one spurious and a dealer will charge a fortune for one. If the bulb fits into it put it in and away you go.

Sure it isn't even looked at for the NCT, what is the point?

It is a 2002 almera. It is worth nothing anyway, I wouldn't even spend the cost of a bulb on a car like that.

Why wouldn't you spend the cost of a bulb on a 02 Almera if that's all that's wrong with it?

its an unnecessary part. no bearing on NCT.

Lots of things have no bearing on the NCT but are necessary or helpful for one reason or another.

Yeah but it'll break again without the cover. The bulb doesn't cost millions it's only 99 cents,if I fix it,I'll be able to see inside my car's boot again at night.

Exactly,it's only 99 cents. Saw it in a local shop a few days ago but didn't get it yet. I might just get a piece of plastic and stick it over the bulb to keep it from breaking again.

The cover is there for safety too.

It's not about the NCT anyway,it's hard to see stuff in the night without a bulb. The car passes it's NCT every time without any issues. Sure it's old and not worth much but it's a savage car considering the reliability of its 1.5 litre engine.
