    Replace.

Could eventually rot all the timber underneath.

Hi, I just want to join this thread as I have similar issue. It looks like water is leaking from top of copper cylinder.
Is there a way to turn water off to cylinder to prevent leak but keep water flowing to rest of house for washing machine , dishwasher etc.

Any idea roughly how much to replace cylinder? Any info be great thanks.

You can turn it off usually and only lose hot water.

A pipe will usually come from your attic tank and down into the bottom of the cylinder. This will have a gate valve usually somewhere in the hot press. You will know it’s the right one if when you turn on a hot water tap the water stops coming out after about 30 or so seconds.

Great thanks, there were 3 valves on different pipes, I turned them all off to make sure and then there was no water in any taps except main cold tap in kitchen. So I will look for the valve that you said and turn the other ones back on at a time except that one.

Or you could turn one on and see what tap has water come out of it and by process of elimination work out which is which.

The little pipe of the three is usually central heating and you should probably leave it as it was before you got there.

    All in hot press :
    1. I turned the valve back in for the smallest pipe (central heating)
    2. Found and turned off hot water taps
    3. Found and turned on cold water taps

I'll keep an eye to see if any more leaking starts. But if it is definitely the top of copper cylinder then turning off the hot water pipe should help? As I guess if no water is going in then it won't be flowing out the top pipe?

Yeah goes in the bottom cold then comes out the top hot.
It will leak because it is full of water but only until the leak is higher than the water level.
